The French Pastry School Names World Champion Chef En-Ming Hsu as Chef Instructor
The French Pastry School today announced that En-Ming Hsu has been named Chef Instructor. Hsu will begin teaching at The French Pastry School in January 2009, focusing on plated desserts instruction.

Student Receives James Beard Scholarship
The James Beard Foundation awards Stephanie Yee, student in the July 2008 L'Art de la Patisserie program the St. Regis Houston award.
Among his many attributes, James Beard is fondly remembered by friends and colleagues as a man who offered unstinting help and encouragement to people embarking on a culinary career. Upholding Beard's legacy of culinary education and support through our scholarship program is an essential component of the James Beard Foundation's mission. The James Beard Foundation General Scholarships, the Friends of James Beard Foundation Scholarships, and the James Beard Foundation School Scholarships have been established to assist aspiring culinary professionals who plan to further their education at a licensed or accredited culinary school.

For the Love of Chocolate
For the Love of Chocolate Foundation provides scholarships for qualified students in the specialized training of the pastry arts. The foundation awards scholarships to L’Art de la Patisserie program taught by The French Pastry School for the City Colleges of Chicago. For the Love of Chocolate Foundation promotes commitment in pastry arts education for individuals looking to change careers and individuals that have shown potential in the culinary field but that have no formal pastry education.

This February, experience Chicago’s new winter celebration in downtown Millennium Park. The free, month-long outdoor festival features the U.S. debut of Canadian artist Gordon Halloran’s work, Paintings Below Zero. The French Pastry School has been asked to create a sugar sculpture that will reside in the Chicago Cultural Center.

24-week program begins
The French Pastry School will begin a new session for L'Art de la Patisserie program. The 24-week program is accredited by the Illinois Community College Board for 24 credit hours. Students will learn the fundamentals in all areas of pastry including breads, chocolate, ice cream, plated desserts, cake decorating techinques and more.
