International Students
The French Pastry School at City Colleges of Chicago is now accepting international students to the L'Art de la Patisserie program. Click here to view some keys facts on one of our most recent graduates. International Students are required to take a few additional steps in the application process. Below are the additional steps that need to be completed:
- Complete the admission application and submit to The French Pastry School with $150.00 non-refundable application fee. (Payable to The French Pastry School)

Student Visa Application:
- $100.00 non-refundable I-20 application processing fee. (Payable to Kennedy King College if you are using a check)You can call and pay The French Pastry School with a credit card over the phone and we will provide the necessary checks.
- Evaluation of your High School Credentials
a) The City Colleges of Chicago and Educational Perspectives Evaluation Application. Please be sure to sign on pages 1 and 5.
b) $125 if evaluating secondary or $200 if evaluating University level schooling for the Evaluation of Credentials application fee (this can be paid to French Pastry and we will provide the necessary check).
- All prospective international students, whose native language is not English, applying for admission to the City Colleges and The French Pastry School, are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and submit a TOEFL test score as a requirement of the application process. The Education Testing Service must submit TOEFL test scores directly to The French Pastry School. The minimum test score for admission is 450 or 133 computer base results are required for admittance. For more information about taking the TOEFL Examinations online go to www.toefl.org. The school code for you TOEFL should be #1910 for Kennedy-King College. The TOEFL scores are valid for only two years.
- Completed I-134 Affidavit of Support. If you would prefer to fill this form out electronically you can do so at: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-134.pdf once completed you will print out the forms and send to The French Pastry School along with supporting documentation.
- Supporting Documentation for I-134
a) Certified Bank letter of verification. This must be notarized. Sponsor must show a minimum of $16,000 US in his/her account. If self-sponsored, student must show a minimum of $30,000 in his/her account. This is done by providing a statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institutions where you have deposits, identifying the following details regarding your account:
- 1) Date account opened;
- 2) Total amount deposited for the past year; and
- 3) Present balance.
- b) Statement of your employer on business stationery showing
- 1) Date and nature of employment;
- 2) Salary paid; Sponsor must show a minimum of $30,000 annually.
- 3) Whether the position is temporary or permanent.
- c) If self-employed:
- 1) Copy of last income tax return filed; or
- 2) Report of commercial rating concern.
- Digital Headshot-this can be emailed
- Provide proof of health insurance or purchase health insurance through the City Colleges of Chicago campuses. This step is for your safety in case you get sick while attending school proof of insurance is not required to receive your I-20 and this step may be completed once you are in this country

- Once you have received your I-20 you need to set up an appointment with your consulate. They will require that you file a I-901 and provide them and the school you will be attending with a receipt for the SEVIS I-901 Fee for $200. We will send you details once the I-20 is ready.
