Congratulations to L'Art de la Pâtisserie graduate, Ambrose Erkenswick '10 on his new endeavor, Pizzeria del Mercato, a restaurant specializing in thin crust pizza in Chicago's West Loop. wrote this piece about this 22 year old's 7 year journey in the food industry and his dedication to the perfect pizza crust.

Sweet Sandy B's, owned and operated by Sandy Bierlein, L'Art de la Pâtisserie '10, was featured on Under the Radar Michigan, a PBS television show broadcast throughout the Midwest and Canada. On Monday, July 8th, The French Pastry School welcomed its newest session of L'Art de la Pâtisserie. From countries like Australia, Chile, Brazil, Thailand, Colombia, Scotland and all over the United States; and previous career backgrounds like engineering, art history, editing, hotel and restaurant management, savory cooking, and floristry, L'Art de la Pâtisserie July 2013 is one of the most diverse groups of students yet! We're looking forward to watching as they progress throughout their six month journey in all things sweet and baked!

Illinois Restaurant Association | June 18, 2013

(Chicago, IL; May 31, 2013) The Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (IRAEF) announced today that it will award $144,500 in scholarships – more than $15,000 more than in 2012 – to students in pursuit of post-secondary education in the Culinary and Hospitality Management fields. The scholars will be honored at an award ceremony at 1:00p.m. during IRAEF’s Annual Scholarship Luncheon held on Saturday, June 1st  at 12:00 p.m. at Chase Tower on the 57th Floor (21 S. Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60603). The luncheon is being sponsored by Eurest.

Chicago, Illinois (June 12, 2013) – If you give pastry enthusiasts a cookie competition, they’re going to need more than just a glass of milk.  The over twenty competitor’s at Pastry Chicago’s Sixth Annual Student/Amateur Cookie Competition used California Raisins, Plugrá Butter, King Arthur Flour, and Nielsen-Massey Vanilla to create unique cookies and compete for prizes from KitchenAid.  From traditional oatmeal-raisin to chocolate-enrobed ice cream sandwiches, not one of the cookies that were displayed throughout Mariano’s Fresh Market was alike.  Chef Joshua Johnson of T
